RECORD APPLICATIONS FOR ENROLLMENT AT NATIONALLY-RANKED ST. PHILIP’S COLLEGE EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL WITH SAN ANTONIO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT LAST YEAR ARE A REMINDER THAT APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 RUN FROM NOVEMBER TO FEBRUARY

Applications submitted for 2018 were a whopping five times the original volume in 2014---Next class graduates in May of 2019

A successful St. Philip's College business unit that was included in a US News & World Report National Ranking in May also experienced a record volume of student applications for enrollment in 2017, and officials are expecting a similar consumer interest as the application season for 2019 runs from late November 2018 through early February 2019.

The nationally noted St. Philip's College business unit with A-Plus application interest from November-through-February is the St. Philip’s College Early College High School with San Antonio Independent School District.

The business unit earned an elite bronze medal ranking from US News & World Report in May. The school’s Class of 2018 was the class setting new higher standards for excellence when the college became a 2018 recipient of the elite Texas Governor’s Award for Performance Excellence and co-recipient of the 2018 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. But what was really validating for the unit was the 2017 application interest when the school’s first class began preparing to graduate in 2018, roughly five times the original volume and public interest shown in 2014.

Dr. Derrick Thomas has been principal of the school since it opened in August 2014 on the campus of the 120-year-old college, providing students with a blended high school-college experience at a high-performing institution.

"Applications during our excellent early years were roughly 120 or so. Applications in 2017 exceeded 600. I was advised that in the college world, application numbers traditionally rise in anticipation of the graduation of the first class for a new college. That’s what we’ve experienced," Thomas said with a smile.
