For more than 30 years, since if formed the educational endowment in 1988, members of Sembradores have given funds to help Latino students who attend SAC full-time, have completed 24 college hours, and maintained a 3.0 grade point average.

According to Bernal, many of the scholarship recipients have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, and business people who also engage in civic work.

“They are well rounded citizens and also want to give back to the community,” he said.

Since 1993, Sembradores has awarded 129 scholarships in awards totaling $90,300.

The Education Foundation is part of Sembradores of San Antonio, which will celebrate its 60th anniversary as the first chapter established in the United States as a member of the Asociación Internacional de Clubs Sembradores de Amistad (AICSA).
