Cox Hernandez Appointed SACS-COC Accreditation Liaison

cox-pic.jpgTiffany Cox Hernandez, Dean for Student Success, has been appointed as San Antonio College’s accreditation liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC). The commission grants accreditation to colleges that award doctoral and master’s degrees, as well as associate degrees in arts, science, applied science, and various certificates.

As the accreditation liaison, Dean Cox Hernandez is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that compliance with accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning and evaluation process of the institution.
  • Notifying the commission in advance of substantive changes and program developments.
  • Familiarizing faculty, staff, and students with the commission’s accrediting policies and procedures.
  • Serving as a resource person during the decennial review process and helping prepare for coordinating reaffirmation and other accrediting visits.

Dean Cox Hernandez will collaborate with faculty and staff to prepare a fifth-year interim report which will be due September 2021 and which will include a site visit by the SACS-COC. SAC will formally apply for reaffirmation of its accreditation in 2026.
