BHM: Meet the Artist Showcase to Feature Lionel Sosa

February 3, 2022

LSosa-350x425.jpgSt. Philip’s College will host Lionel Sosa as part of its Black History Month Meet the Artist Showcase. The virtual gallery will feature Sosa’s “Living in My Skin”. The Living in My Skin project features over 30 oil-on-linen portraits of Black men, ages 10 to 90, as well as a two-part film documentary that premiered on PBS station KLRN during Black History Month in 2021.

The purpose of the project is to shine a light on today’s reality, what it’s like to be a Black man or boy in San Antonio and to help bring about a better understanding of each other as a community.

Lionel Sosa is an independent marketing consultant and nationally recognized portrait artist. He is the founder of Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, which became the largest Hispanic advertising agency in the U.S. Sosa is an acknowledged expert in Hispanic consumer and voter behavior and was named “One of the 25 most influential Hispanics in America” by Time Magazine.
