SPC ECHS Graduates 50
July 6, 2020
50 students from St. Philip's College Early College High School graduated on Friday, June 12, 2020, during a ceremony held at the Alamo Stadium. Students in the program completed their high school requirements, with some of the seniors earning associate degrees in the process.
With the final three months of the school year disrupted due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, ECHS students had to adapt to an online learning environment for both their high school and college courses. Despite the rapid changes, students were provided with the guidance and resources necessary to ensure their completion.
Associate Degrees or core college-level curriculum was earned by 70 percent of the graduates, preparing them to transfer to a four-year institution. 40 percent of students were accepted to Tier 1 schools, with many choosing to attend universities in Texas. Collectively, the 2020 cohort earned $3.9 million in scholarships from their schools of choice.
Year after year, the SPC ECHS enables students to earn an associate degree and/or workforce certification at no cost while completing the requirements for their high school diploma. The program offers degrees in Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science, along with certifications in the fields of information technology and automotive technology. Students are able to earn up to 60 college credit hours, allowing them to get a jump start on college and save thousands on tuition costs and fees.
