Over 300 students and employees from St. Philip’s College participated in the city’s 2.7-mile Martin Luther King March on Monday, January 20, 2020. Participants marched in SPC’s signature blue apparel, leading contingents from NLC, SAC, PAC, NVC and Alamo Colleges District (ACD). TAMUSA, UTSA, OLLU, UIW and Trinity were among the other San Antonio-area institutions representing the city’s education section.

ACD Chancellor, Dr. Mike Flores, Vice-Chancellor of Economic & Workforce Development, Robert McKinley, Board of Trustee (D2), Dr. Jose A Macias, Jr. and all five college presidents participated in the 33rd annual celebration.

VIA Metropolitan Transit operated a park-and-ride site at the college, providing thousands of free fair rides to community members to and from march activities. The march concluded at Pittman-Sullivan Park with a free gathering featuring speakers, booths, food, entertainment and a 70-foot-long truck promoting SPC’s Commercial Driver’s License Program. SPC volunteers shared information on programs offered at MLK and SW campus.
