Free VIA Fare Rides Available for MLK March Participants

VIA will be offering complimentary bus service to individuals participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. March on Monday, January 20, 2020. Passengers may access rides to the march between 8:00-10:00 a.m. at two locations: Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston St. (Lot 1) and St. Philip’s College, 1801 Martin Luther King Dr. (Lot 22), view campus map here. The drop-off point for service to the March will be on MLK Drive, west of Upland Drive. Buses will return passengers to the original pick-up locations between 12:00-3:00 p.m. Participants may access return service at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa St.
Every year, St. Philip’s College students, alumni, partners and employees look forward to participating in the city’s 2.7-mile march. In 2019, more than 300 students and employees from SPC, NLC, SAC, PAC and NVC participated in “SPC Blue” apparel. The annual celebration attracts approximately 300,000 marchers and onlookers in honor of the civil rights leader.
