SPC Collision/Refinishing Program Awarded $10,000

St. Philip’s College (SPC) Collision/Refinishing Technician Program was awarded $10,000 from the I-Car Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF).

CREF assists colleges in remaining at the forefront of the collision industry by providing grants and in-kind product donations of state-of-the-art tools, equipment and materials. The award consisted of a $5,000 grant from Service King and a $5,000 grant from Hertz.

“The grant will increase efficiency and superiority during lab projects by providing the funds to purchase quality tools that meet industry standards,” says Department Chair John Haral. The tools go hand-in-hand with providing students the knowledge, skill-set and hands-on learning experience needed to succeed in the automotive industry. Currently, there are 52 students enrolled in the program.
