TWO 9/11 OBSERVANCE CEREMONIES AT ST. PHILIP'S COLLEGE CAMPUSES SEPT. 11---ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND---COLLEGE ANNOUNCES PROJECT PARTNERS INCLUDE SAPD, SAFD

Today, St. Philip’s College, with campuses at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive and 800 Quintana Road, announced the college observes 9/11 2018 with two ceremonies featuring familiar local first responders---and all are invited to attend.

The 120-year-old college begins the day with a 9/11 ceremony on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Watson Fine Arts Center Parking Circle located at 1801 Martin Luther King Drive.

The observance day concludes with an indoor ceremony Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. in Building 1 of the college’s Southwest Campus at 800 Quintana Road. Parking is always complimentary for either event.

Each ceremony traditionally includes a moment of silence followed by a moment of reflection and concludes with low volume music. The 10 a.m. event also includes important college partners---members of the San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Fire Department and Alamo Colleges District Police Department, along with their respective vehicles. The college is part of the local first responder experience. The 600-seat Watson Fine Arts Center is the site of many police cadet class graduation ceremonies, and when emergencies occur on campus and in neighborhoods surrounding the campus, members of both departments are among the valued first responders. Space on the parking circle during the 10 a.m. ceremony will be occupied by the first responders and guests who include at least one speaking representative from the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church that is the founding church of the now-nondenominational college.
