圣. Philip’s 大学 Department of Tourism, 热情好客, & Culinary Arts received a $10,000 donation from the Cowboy Breakfast Foundation to support student scholarships. 20多年来, the department has partnered with the foundation to produce their annual Cowboy Breakfast — the official kick-off event for the 圣安东尼奥 Stock Show 和 Rodeo season. Through their partnership, the THCA department has received over $250,000 in scholarship donations.

The Cowboy Breakfast was private for the second year due to COVID-19 however, students were still able to participate 和 prepare breakfast for 圣安东尼奥 first responders. This year was the first time the breakfast preparation took place in the new Tourism, 热情好客, 和 Culinary Arts building located on the Martin Luther King campus. Students prepared approximately 6,500 tacos for the 圣安东尼奥 police 和 fire departments.

The annual Cowboy Breakfast is one of many opportunities offered to students in the THCA programs. 去年,圣。. Philip’s 大学 和 the City of 圣安东尼奥 World Heritage Office 和 Global Engagement Office collaborated to participate in an international chef exchange with 圣安东尼奥 Sister City Gwangju, South Korea during the virtual Gwangju World Kimchi Festival. Students from the International Cuisine class learned from a renowned kimchi master 和 圣安东尼奥 Chef Ambassador Stephen Paprocki.

The THCA programs at St. Philip’s 大学 prepare aspiring hospitality industry professionals for success 和 service within their industry. 2021年,St. 菲利普的大学 was named to the 10 Best Culinary Schools in Texas list by Best Value Schools (BVS). Programs are recognized as exemplary by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board 和 the American Culinary Federation.
