Students from Northeast Lakeview College to spend their summer gaining hands-on experience and learning about careers with NASA. Eduardo Hernandez, Arnaldo Ramirez-Rodarte, Brian Andrew Stancik engage in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) Program. NCAS gives community college students an authentic NASA experience. Students in the on-site workshop engage with NASA missions, research, and facilities while building relationships with colleagues and mentors. Over the course of four days, participants are put in teams, each assigned a role, and work together on multiple projects.  They design and assemble a robot and gain hands-on experience and insight into the engineering field.

Eduardo Hernandez participated in the NCAS internship program over Spring Break and he says, “My experience at NASA was great! We got to tour the facility and meet our team.  At the Stennis Space center I got to go inside where NASA tested the rocket engines of the Apollo missions.”

“Northeast Lakeview College values the impact of experiential learning,” says Dr. Veronica Garcia, NLC President “where students learn through doing.”  These programs provide the hands-on experience students need to expand what they have learned in the classroom.
